Behavioral Support Plan Overview

iCareManager's Behavior Support Plan Module is a robust system for assessing and planning for an individual's behavioral needs, tracking progress toward behavior goals and then monitoring and reporting on progress using collected data from the CareTracker. There are several features within the BSP module to support the life cycle of a Behavior Support Plan.

A user may make a Psych Referral to seek psychological support for an individual they are working with. This referral describes the reason for intervention, as well as general availability for when a clinician can assess the individual. Next, a clinician may complete a Functional Assessment on a person. The Functional Assessment captures critical background information about an individual. Within the Functional Assessment, the clinician makes a recommendation toward next steps, whether a BSP may be required or beneficial in supporting the needs of the Individual.

A Behavior Support Plan outlines key information that a staff working with an individual needs to know, including triggers and warning signs, and lays out the target behaviors, adaptive behaviors, proactive strategies and preventative strategies, as well as Behavior Goals. Once implemented, the BSP data is collected in the Care Tracker. iCM also offers an ABC Data Form for a more detailed report of behavioral incidents, including the antecedent, behavior, and consequence. A clinician may monitor the individual and document these efforts periodically in iCM's Clinical Contact Note.

The Behavior Support Plan Review is a process where the clinician summarizes how a Behavior Support Plan is going for a person. It is a monitoring mechanism for the team and a clinician. The user can review BSP data, summarize it, and complete a data review. It presents the data in graphs and allows the user to comment on each goal and implementation methods that are part of the BSP. At the end of this process a beautiful document is generated with the summaries and graphs.

BSP Settings

  • iCM allows the customer to determine if they would like to create one BSP for an Individual to cover all assigned Programs or potentially create Program specific BSPs or BSPs that may have multiple Programs.
  • Let's consider Mr. Rzepka, who is currently involved in three Programs within the organization, Salty's Dock and Rip/Rap Repair, Longview and Madison Marina.

  • Currently the default option for BSP creation allows the customer to create 1 BSP and add information from all Programs, if needed.  Or the customer can add Program specific information for those Programs in which he had behavioral needs.  This allows for only 1 current BSP.
  • Effective June 2024, Customers using the BSP module have the ability to create Program specific BSPs and BSPs that may have multiple Programs.  Customers will also find that previously entered BSPs now prominently display the Program(s) for which that BSP was created.

How to enable multiple current BSPs

  • In Admin Tools->iCM-Settings-Behavior Support Plan (BSP) Settings, customers can toggle on a feature to allow for multiple current BPSs.  This benefits customers in which multiple current BSPs are needed or required.  This would allow Consultant A to create a BSP for Salty's and Consultant B to create a BSP for Madison and Longview.  Both BSPs would operate on their own timeframes and independent from each other.

  • Toggling on the ability to have multiple BSPs will enable customers to build BSPs that cover one or multiple programs for that Individual.  In this example their are 2 BSPs in Draft.  BSP ID 5513 is for Salty's, BSP ID 5512 is for both Madison and Longview.

  • Customers implementing a BSP (ID 5515) that no longer contains all the programs of the previous BSP (ID 4998)will produce this warning to ensure the customer understands that implementing this new BSP, moves BSP ID 4998 to the Past status, therefore no longer having a Current BSP for the Salty's Program.
