Attendance: Daylight Saving Time Setting

The Attendance module is a comprehensive attendance system for iCareManager customers.

Daylight Saving Time is the concept of the clock either falling backwards 1 hour in the Fall or forward in the Spring during 1AM-2AM.  This time movement can effect how the number of units are calculated for time based Funding Streams when the service is documented as provided at 1AM-2AM on those specific days each year.   iCM allows for customers to determine how the system should respond to this time change.

  • By default, the system will take into account DST.  Therefore in the example below from 5 Nov 2023, the system notes that the time documented between 1AM-2AM = 8 Units (based on a 15 Minute Unit) where on any other day in Nov it shows 4 Units.

  • The reverse effect will occur on the Spring date for the DST change.  In the example below the system notes that the time documented between 12AM-3AM = 8 Units where on any other day in March it shows 12 Units.
  • For those customers that have set a Maximum Units per 24 hours limit on any applicable Funding Stream, on those DST dates, the system will automatically allow for 1 hour of additional time (in Units) to cover the potential increase.

*Please note that Customers must have the DST setting in place prior to documenting attendance on the DST dates.  The system will not automatically convert the calculation of these units if the service time was entered prior to the setting change.  If a setting change was enacted after the DST date, removing and reentering the attendance for that day will allow the system to recalculate the units.

  • For those customers that want attendance to ignore this time change for calculations, please navigate from Admin Tools to iCM-Settings, then Attendance Settings and toggle on the "Ignore Day Light Saving".  Please remember to scroll down and Save this change.

  • With this feature toggled off, the system will ignore the DST and will continue to calculate any time between 1AM-2AM on these specific days each year as 1 Hour or 4 Units etc based on how the Funding Stream's Unit is set.  In the example below for 5 Nov 2023, the system notes that the time documented between 12AM-3PM = 12 Units, the same as any other day.
